Outside of God, where else could we really go?

Gratitude ... that's the one word that I believe summarizes the gospel today.

Yesterday, I was reading an article about how science begins to acknowledge the biblical account of creation as that which more closely relates with their findings - a starting point for everything (the Big Bang) and a seemingly grand design that underpins them all.

Earth is like heaven compared to the fire, rocks and gas that constitute the stars, planets, planetoids, moons, asteroids and lots of empty space in the universe that we live in. Scientists now find it more and more difficult to sweep our existence -- Earth and everything in it -- under the rug of chance.

Then, while scientists now know about the DNA -- that strand that carries the entire design of a person -- and begins to unwrap its gargantuan secrets, not a few scientists now doubt that mere chance brought it together.

What seems to be looking down at them is the face of a Creator with a level of power and intelligence that makes human intelligence look like a single blade of grass in this Creator's garden.

The scary question now is, what is this Creator up to? What's on His mind? Why did He put us here on earth?

Much as we want to understand the mind of God, we often face a blank wall and hear a whisper that says, "Are you even capable of filling your mind with a drop of God's wisdom?"

It's very humiliating, isn't it? There's no explanation of why we're here that we can immediately comprehend except that we're here under His bidding and nothing else. We can either accept that or reject that.

If we accept that, good. Let's be grateful.

If we don't, where else could we go?
